Sudden Death Inquirer


(a)   Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

(b)  Should be permanent resident within 02 years immediately preceding the appointment.

(c)   Should be more than 30 years and less than 62 years of age as at the closing date of the acceptance of application.                  

(d)  Should have passed the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with 3 ordinary passe. (Preference is given to those who have passed in Science Stream)

(e)   Muslim applicants applied for the post of Inquirer into Sudden Deaths should be fluent in Tamil Language both writing and speaking

(f)  Should bear an excellent moral character and be a person with good mental and physically order. Higher preference is given to teetotalers.


Procedure for Applications

(a)   Application should be made on or before the closing date as set out in the Government Gazette calling for applications to fill the vacancies of Inquirers into Sudden Deaths.

(b)  Applications should be furnished as per the specimen form being published in the Government Gazette or collected from the Ministry of Justice.

(c)  Completed applications should be sent by registered post to reach the Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Colombo 12 or be handed over to the Reception or JP Unit of Ministry of Justice.

Collection of applications

(a) Specimen form published in the Government Gazette.

(b) Specimen form obtained from the Administration Division of the Ministry of Justice.


Fee for applications

Fee is not chargeable.

Submission of applications

Applications should be sent to the Secretary, Ministry of Justice or be handed over to the officer in charge of the subject during normal working hours.


Service Charge 

This service is free of charge.

Time taken to provide the service

Normal Service hours.

Documents to be produced in proof of the qualifications.

Notice is given to the applicants in writing informing of the date of interview and the testimonials are required to be submitted at the interview.
