The Debt Conciliation Board is established under the Debt Conciliation Ordinance No. 39 of 1941 as amended. It was proposed to repeal of the Debt Conciliation Ordinance and a Bill was presented to the Cabinet in 2003. The Bill was approved. However, the 2004 Budget did not allocate separate funds under its Head No. 761 and provisions were made under the Mediation Board Commission. Hence separate expenditure statements of the department could not be provided. The department was revived in 2004 and separate allocation is sought for the department under the 2005 Budget. The New Committee of Debt Conciliation was appointed on the 30th June 2004, comprising the following members: - Mr.K.T.P.Fernando Chairman Mr.Buddhadasa Vithanage Member Mr.K.A.P.Rajakaruna Member Mr.V.Kumaran Member Mr.D.Karunadasa Vithanage Member
